Please respect our wildlife. State and federal laws protect all turtles and monk seals and there are large fines for harassing them. We would appreciate your cooperation in keeping the environment intact for others to enjoy. Standing or walking on reefs can break or kill corals, even touching them causes harms and don't break off the coral or collect shells - help preserve the beauty you are enjoying still be there for future generations.

Kelia Beach on Kauai
Kelia Beach
As with all Kaua'i beaches, this one can be dangerous - powerful waves, currents and backwashes, but if you decide this is the beach use the northern end. Known for body surfing, boogie boarding and surfing, on calm days the snorkeling is good too. No facilities.
Just north of Kapa'a at mile marker 10.
Wailua Beach on Kauai
Wailua Beach
Although one of the most accessible beaches on Kaua'i, the frequent "trades" make for rough waters and strong currents. The mouth of the river is not recommended for swimming. Popular with boogie boarders. Minimal facilities
On the Kuhio Highway, just north of the bridge over the Wailua River.
Monk Seal on Kauai
Hanama'ulu Beach Park
Fairly well protected but murky waters make for ok swimming (watch out for seasonal water dangers). Picnic area, bathrooms, showers, playground. Tent & trailer camping with permit
Turn off Kuhio Highway onto Hamama'ulu Road, turn on Helio Road, the park is at the end of the road.
Kapaa Beach Park on Kauai
Kapa'a Beach Park
Right in Kapa'a this park is a locals favorite, making it a bit more crowded and not as clean as others (no facilities). It has the added draw of a swimming pool, since this beach can have high surf and strong currents you can be assured of being able to get in the water. On windy days you can catch the kite surfers here, they can really fly when the wind is up.
A block off Kuhio Highway at the junction with Olohena Road (581).
Lydgate State Park on Kauai
Lydgate State Park
This is one of the nicest beaches we found on Kaua'i. It has clean restrooms, lifeguards, playground, picnic tables under a roof which is nice to get out of the sun). It has 2 small ponds that are protected from the ocean so you can swim with the kids without worrying about getting knocked around by the surf. There are a variety of fish so you can snorkel, the day we were there it was a bit crowded.
Entrance is by either end of Leho drive (a well marked road), off Kuhio Hwy. just south of Wailua.
Waipoli Beaches on Kauai
Waipoli Beach North & South
Waipoli Beach is not recommended for swimming because of the strong currents and surf. There is a paved path for walking or jogging. Instead go a bit further up the road to the Waipoli Beach Park, it is located right in a populated area so it isn't always the cleanest of beaches. No facilites, but you can use the ones at the boat launching area by the canal - restrooms and pavillions. Beach extends from the Coconut Marketpalce to two miles up at the Waikaea Canal.
Take a right at Waipoli Complex down to Moanakai Street between Pahihi and Makana.
Beach Signs on Kauai
Nukoli Beach
Located from Lidgate Park to the Radisson it runs along the Wailua Golf Course 2 miles of seldom crowded sandy beach, watch out for the surf & currents while in the water.
Near the mile marker 4 use the dirt road between the hotel and the golf course, beware the road is not in the best condition and can be tricky.
