Honolua Bay
Snorkeling
A marine preserve park so don't take anything away with you. This is touted as the best snorkeling anywhere. Stay along the sides of the bay for the best stuff. It can be not so good during winter high surf and when there has been rain due to runoff clouding the water. The bay is mostly black rock so this is not a sunning beach.

Scuba
This is an excellent dive for beginners to intermediates. Stay along the right side of the bay for the deeper water and better reef (check out the picture above, taken from the lookout point right above the bay). Thirty-five feet will be about as deep as it gets, but the wildlife and protected water means a good day. It can be not so good during winter high surf and when there has been rain due to runoff clouding the water.
Two miles north of Kapalua you have your choice of two ways in, both between mile marker 32 and 33. The more popular route is at the second one at the road's lowest point. A spectacular walk is from the pullout just before mile marker 33. You'll see a dirt road going toward the ocean, follow it down to an old boat ramp and enter the water here. It's a stroll down through a rain forest and the "no trespassing" signs appear to apply only to the trail going off to the north so please stay on the one for public use. Also, since you can't see your car the break-in artists visit here. Just leave your car unlocked and don't leave anything in it.
