La
Perouse Bay
|
| Snorkel |
| Still within the Ahi Hi -Kina'u Marine Preserve this area is mostly
sharp lava rock and a tricky entry. There is a shelf that makes
entry a little easier and watch out for the sharp urchins. Go to
the right and around the first point. Continue along the shore and
you will find a series of coves each one better than the last. Stay
close in to avoid the current in deeper water. This area is recommended
for stronger swimmers. You may see dolphins here. |

second dive is out in the deeper water of the bay. Further out is
more coral and more interesting relief, especially from 30 to 50
feet. |

| This bay is located at the end
of Makena Alanui Road, you can't miss it. |
|
This is a familiar sight to those who travel
to Big Beach down to La Perouse Bay. There is almost always
a line - the wait is well worth it, most people can't wait
to munch out and sit in the chairs provided to polish off
these treats! |
